My Services

What services do I offer?

I currently offer developmental editing, structural editing, copy editing, line editing, and proofreading for fiction authors of any genre. However, I do specialise in speculative fiction, romance, and contemporary fiction. If you would like me to do a complimentary sample edit of your first 1,000 words, please contact me.

What is my turnaround time?

For manuscripts that vary between 50,000-120,000 words, my turnaround time is one month. If your manuscript is shorter or longer, please contact me so I can provide you with something more accurate.

Types of Editing

Developmental Editing

Developmental editing is when an editor like me overlooks your entire draft manuscript and analyses character development, plot, tension, conflict, tone, and flow while indicating with detailed comments how they could all improve and be further developed.

Structural Editing

Structural editing looks at the big picture of your manuscript, analyses each scene and plot point, and decides whether they are effective where they are or whether it would be better for your story to have them placed elsewhere.

Copy Editing

Copy editing ensures your manuscript is correct. This means that it overlooks all spelling errors, ensures it adheres consistently to a style guide, and rids the story of any clunky or confusing sentences, allowing for a more concise reading experience.

Line Editing

Line editing looks at your manuscript meticulously, line-by-line to ensure every word choice is the best possible choice to communicate what you have to say. It doesn’t rewrite your sentences, but it helps better the flow, makes the sentences more concise, and helps technically to pack a punch with your readers!

Proofreading

Proofreading is usually done as one of the last edits for the manuscript. It goes over the entire document and ensures there are no spelling, punctuation, or grammatical errors. It also ensures there are spelling consistencies with capital letters and proper nouns.

How It Works

Step One

Contact me by email, and I will send you a form to complete. After you’ve returned it to me, I will review your answers and reply with a quote attached for the service you have chosen.

Step Two

Once you proceed, I will ask you then to send your manuscript to me as a Word document or a Pages document to work through. If you don’t have either, please let me know and we can work something out.

Step Three

After I have finished, I will send your document back marked with comments and with a summary report of all my notes and suggestions.
